5. Live keychains

This is even crueler than live crabs. You can easily buy live turtles, lizards or kingfishes on a keychain. They are kept in tiny plastic bags filled with nutrient-rich liquid, so the animals are alive and suffering for about four or five months until the oxygen is gone. Such keychains are very popular among Chinese. It’s believed that they bring good luck. I’d rather think that these savage items spoil owners’ and manufacturers’ karma for many years. Local animal liberation activists have tried to do something against live keychains, but they failed.
