If you commit a crime, but you’re a wealthy man and you don’t want to spend some years behind the bars, there is a solution for you. You can hire the man needing money, for example, to pay off debts. Such people take your fall and serve your prison term. It’s a common practice in China and there are even professional men of straw. If you buy somebody’s freedom, it can be considered a kind of slavery. This creates the atmosphere of permissiveness around the rich Chinese. Corrupted officials don’t pay attention to this problem.
