8. Female corpses

Grave diggers from city of Yanan exhumed ten female corpses illegally and sold them to the relatives of men who died unmarried. It’s believed in China that unmarried men will live alone in the afterlife. So parents decided to buy corpses and bury them in the same graves with their adult children. They were sure that in such way they would be considered married. The thieves were caught. They got about 40,000 dollars for ten corpses. There is no doubt that this business is widely spread in other Chinese provinces.
