1962. Peter Fechter was an eighteen-year-old citizen of East Germany that was occupied by Soviet Union. He wanted to escape to free Western Germany. He and his friend chose an occasion and ran through the death strip of barbwire. Peter’s friend succeeded, but Peter was wounded. He was rolling in agony on the death strip for hours. Not one of the thousands of westerners could help him. Finally, when the poor boy died, one of the eastern soldiers carried the body away.
