Schrödinger’s Flowers. Japanese Photographer Captured Flowers in the Bewitching Borderline State

Kenji Shibata’s series is called ‘Locked In Ether’. He shows beautiful frozen flowers that look like watercolor masterpieces. They are still alive, but when the ice melts they will die. In a way, they’re similar to Schrödinger’s famous cat. One can say that Shibata’s art experiment is cruel, but so many flowers are sold every day on the streets and not many of them have a chance to be turned into a wonderful masterpiece. It can be said that Shibata finds beauty in the dying of flowers. And that – to be honest – looks fantastic.
